About Laptop Sorted
Laptop Sorted helps people in the UK choose a laptop or desktop without needing to know the jargon.
You answer four short questions: what you will use it for, how you will carry it, what matters most to you and your budget. We then show three computers from UK shops that fit, each with the reasons it suits you, one trade-off to know about and a price with the date we checked it. Pro, free during the beta, compares your picks side by side and gives you a checklist for the shop.
Who we are
Laptop Sorted is a small, independent website run by DANIEL BUSINESS SUPPORT LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11694838). It is in beta: we are still improving it, and we welcome corrections and ideas.
How we choose
- We start from what you told us: enough memory and storage for your use, a weight you can carry every day if you need to, a graphics chip for bigger games and 3D work, and Windows or a Mac when your course or job programs need one.
- Course and work programs are checked against the publishers’ own requirements.
- Prices are read from each shop’s own product page, checked every week and shown with their date. If we cannot re-check a price, we say so instead of showing it as current.
- Specifications come from the makers’ spec sheets. When a maker offers several versions and the shop does not say which one it sells, we use the weaker figure.
- When nothing fits your budget, we tell you, and say what would.
Our catalogue is a reviewed sample of computers from UK shops, not the whole market. We add models over time.
What we are not
- We are not a shop. You buy directly from the shop, so orders, delivery and returns are between you and the shop.
- Makers and shops do not pay us to appear or to be placed higher. How we make money explains our plans.
