How we make money

How Laptop Sorted is paid for today, what we plan, and the rules we keep.

Today

The site is free and in beta. Next to a new computer you may see a “Compare on Amazon (paid link)” link. When you buy through it, Amazon pays us a small commission, and you pay the same price. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Every other link to a shop is an ordinary link: no commission and no tracking. Pro is free during the beta and no payment is taken.

What we plan

We will update this page before any of this starts.

• Commission from more shops. We plan to join other shops’ affiliate programmes. When you buy through one of those links, the shop may pay us a small commission. You pay the same price, and we will mark those links clearly.
• Pro. After the beta, Pro will be a small one-off payment. You will see the price before you pay, and the three matches will stay free.

What commission will never change

Every computer is chosen by the same rules from the same catalogue, whether or not a shop or Amazon pays a commission. A commission will never put a computer in your matches, move it higher or keep a better one out. We never show Amazon prices; the price we show is the one at the shop we name.

What we never do

• We do not sell computers.
• We do not take payment from makers or shops for a place in the results.
• We do not sell or share your data. Your answers stay on your device: see our privacy notice.
